About

Ask the Nurse is an avenue for men, women and children to be empowered to make decisions about their health. The tagline “Your Health is in Your Hands” encompasses the three-part being of humans, composed of the body, the soul and the spirit.

This website is not structured for the treatment and cure of diseases, rather it is trimmed to convince people to upgrade their lives through health education, disease prevention, risk reduction, and calculated primary or acute symptom consultation.

It also hopes to cultivate the soul and the spirit and to bridge them in oneness with the body. Transforming minds into thinking and believing that reconciling the three-part beings will yield healing and other unimaginable possibilities both in the physical and spiritual world.

This platform is influenced by the Nurse Practitioner (NP) office around the world which, unfortunately, is unavailable in the Philippines. However, the autonomous function of a licensed nurse qualifies the main focus of this site, which is the promotion of overall health and wellness.

It is the desire of atnurse.wordpress.com to extend its expertise to as many individuals, to serve and to lead in ways that would enrich people’s lives. The extended clinical role of the nurse here is not only to provide eyes, ears, lips and hands that mend, but also a heart that heals.

About the Nurse:

Irmee is a Registered Nurse by profession with a wealth of experience in and out of the healthcare industry. Her humble beginnings started in Metropolitan Hospital, now known as the Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts, Science and Technology. She earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991. She also completed the required units for her Master of Arts in Nursing in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (City College of Manila), pending her thesis writing for her to earn the degree.

She began her professional career as a regular staff then earned the Nurse in Charge position in her 4-year stay in the hospital. However, her free-spirited nature drove her to uncover her potentials in various genre of work. She ventured as a Career Agent in Sun Life Financials, a Beuty Consultant and a Director in Qualification for Mary Kay Philippines, and as a Figure Consultant and Customer Service Representative in Slimmer’s World.

In 1999, an opportunity presented itself when she landed a job in one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the Philippines, United Laboratories (Unilab). She applied as a Clinic Nurse, but was handpicked by the former Depatment of Health Secretary, Manuel Dayrit to be the Network Services Head in the newly established in-house Health Plan Manager, Health First.

She stayed at Unilab for 6 years until an invitation from her Alma Mater came in. She was invited to try her natural endowment as an Educator and Clinical Instructor. She accepted the offer and discovered her innate skills in teaching. She found herself moonlighting in several Nursing Colleges and Universities across Metro Manila. She was a Lecturer and Follow-up Clinical Instructor for Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Primary Healthcare, Health Ethics and Nursing Research.

However, the projected decline in nursing education in 2007 presented an opportunity for her to pursue her passion in writing. In 2009, she stated developing her portfolio by accepting menial assignments in UpWork (formerly oDesk Philippines) while fulfilling her teaching roles. She accepted small projects, but made sure she delivered and learned from them too.

This year marks her fifth year of doing home-based work where she has already earned a good reputation. She continues to accept projects from UpWork as a Freelance Consultant and Health Writer, and she also teaches English as a second language at RareJob Philippines.

Currently, she is also one of the volunteer leaders in a church in San Juan City. A place where people honor God, value family and build relationships. She has proven over time that her experiences and God-given talents are all worthwhile. She uses them to provide customized and professional content for her clients across the globe, and to reach out to people who are in need of healing for the body, the soul and the spirit.
